Masoud,

This is not a problem specific to ECCE, but is related to your setup/environment for any X Windows based application (e.g. xclock, xterm) as well as ECCE. The solution depends on what platform you are accessing the machine running ECCE from (Linux, Mac, Windows), how you are accessing it (ssh?), or whether you are directly logged onto the Linux machine where you are running ECCE. I suggest finding a system administrator at your university who is familiar with X Windows enough to get you going. The way to approach this is to ignore that you want to use ECCE and just try to get a simple X Windows app working like xterm. When that is working, go back to ECCE and it should work. In years gone past the practice was to explicitly set the $DISPLAY variable and then issue xhost commands. But, that is almost never done these days with security concerns and features like ssh X port forwarding setting these things automatically.

Best regards,
Gary Black, ECCE project lead

Dear Dr. Black

Thanks for your detailed answer. The operating system of my PC is a Linux (64 bit UBUNTU) and I access it directly as root where the ECCE files exist. any suggestion ? Many Thanks

How to define basis sets from library
Dear all:

I am having a trouble of defining different basis sets for same type of atoms. Here is a part of coordinates of my system:

geometry
C1 	   -1.092795   -2.439456   -0.006942
C2 -2.096037 -1.498379 -0.005348
C3 -1.561937 -0.175328 -0.004164
C4 -0.178771 -0.104081 -0.004930
end
basis
C1 library 3-21G*
C2 library 3-21G*
C3 library 6-31++G**
C4 library 6-31++G**
end
When I tried with above, I got error like  :Application 4023026 exit codes: 134
Application 4023026 resources: utime 0, stime 0
Thank you very much in advance for your suggestion:

Have you run any of the QA test cases? I want to make sure the code runs before trying to figure out what is wrong with your input.
