Problem running ECCE in Debian/Testing in VMware Player

Clicked A Few Times
I have installed the current vrsion of ECCE in Debian Testing (v-8.0) RC3 running in VMware Player v-7.1.0.

There were no warning or error messages during installation. but a [rpb;e, aarose when I ran ECCE.

Here is the run log:

comp@inga:~$ script run.ecce.log
Script started, file is run.ecce.log
comp@inga:~$ ecce

Copying default ~/.nwchemrc file to run NWChem locally
The program 'builder' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
 (Details: serial 1966 error_code 2 request_code 156 minor_code 24)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

This means absolutely nothing to me.

Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Gets Around
Does it work in Debian Testing (v-8.0) RC3 running natively, i.e. not in a VM?
Given that you seem to have graphics/video related issues I suspect this has to do with the GL/Mesa support in your VM.

Having said that, it's been working just fine for me in virtualbox using debian wheezy: http://verahill.blogspot.com.au/2013/05/434-ecce-64-on-debian-7-in-32-bit.html
