Jaikumar "f77" is not a recognized env. variable by the NWChem makefile structure. Please use FC, instead Could you provide more details about the computer you are using to build NWChem? For example, what is the value of NWCHEM_TARGET you are using, what Fortran compiler is available and what is the output of the command mpif90 -show
